SENS WIN ONE, LOSE ONE IN OPENING DAY ACTION.
The Senators opened the tournament against the top seeded Hurricanes and gave the host team everything they could handle but in the end fell victim to penalty trouble enroute to a 4-1 loss. With the score tied at one with seven minutes to go, the Hurricanes capitalized on their 6th powerplay of the game to put Western up 2-1 and added two emptry net goals for good measure sending the Senators to an 0-1 start. The Sens had 1 powerplay of their own.
Nolan King had a hatrick in game two as the Senators upset the 4th seeded, and well rested, Valley Wildcats 5-2 .The win gives the Senators a 1-1 record heading into day two.
